Every business starts the same way. A problem someone can't stop noticing, in a place where nobody had actually fixed it yet.
For INIDETO Wash, that place was Abuja. Dust everywhere, cars everywhere, and the same short list of bad options every car owner in this city deals with: drive somewhere and queue, hand your car to a roadside stranger with no accountability, or just let the dust win for another week.
The more I looked at it, the more obvious something became. This was never really a "car wash" problem. Plenty of people in Abuja already wash cars well, so that wasn't it. The actual problem was trust and logistics, because nobody had built a system around it. No way to know a washer was reliable before they touched your car. No record if something went wrong. No consistency from one week to the next.
Starting with nothing but the idea
In the early days, there were no trucks, no wash bays, no staff, just the belief that Abuja's car owners deserved something better than what existed, and that the fix wasn't "start another car wash." It was building the platform that connects car owners with washers who are actually vetted and actually accountable, the same way ride-hailing apps fixed a similar trust gap for transport.
The company behind it, INIDETO Works, came first. INIDETO Wash, the name itself built from my own initials, became its first real product. Even the name changed once, early on, after we discovered the original one was already trademarked by someone else. A small reminder that building something real means fixing things as you go, not waiting for everything to be perfect before you start.
What "the platform, not the car wash" actually means
We don't own trucks. We don't run a wash bay. What we built is the system underneath: vetted washers, before-and-after photo logs, payment confirmed through the platform instead of a cash negotiation at your gate, and a dispute process for when something genuinely goes wrong. That system is the actual product. The wash itself is just where it shows up.
Every washer on the platform is held to a standard. That was true on day one, and it's still non-negotiable now.
Where we are right now
We're early, and honestly, this blog post is part of that same early-stage hustle. But every car owner tired of choosing between "inconvenient" and "unaccountable" is exactly who this was built for, and every washer tired of unreliable customers and no-shows is exactly who we're building the other side for.
